Specialist Personal Injury Solicitors OH Parsons have successfully secured compensation of £85,000 for a member of UCATT who had an accident on site at work.
Our client, a Formwork Joiner, was working on site when an excavator operative was unloading the steel frames nearby without a banksman. The chains around the steel frames snapped, causing the frame to hit and seriously fracture our client’s ankle. After months of treatment and two operations, he has been left with permanent symptoms.
Hannah Tillyer, Partner at O H Parsons commented: “The chains were poorly fitted and the excavator operator had been lifting the steels too suddenly and with insufficient care. Our client’s employer and the operative’s employer were in direct breach of Workplace Regulations and their negligence led directly to him sustaining these distressing and disabling injuries. We are pleased that our negotiations have resulted in securing an out of court settlement just before the case went to trial, saving this UCATT member the further distress of a protracted court case”.
Cases such as this demonstrate the value of UCATT’s legal services and help prevent similar accidents happening in the future
