£180,000 Compensation Secured After Being Exposed to Asbestos

A retired union member sadly died after being diagnosed with Mesothelioma, a cancer caused by exposure to asbestos that takes many decades to develop.

The union member had worked at a power station and had used a hammer and chisel to remove asbestos lagging from pipework. His employers failed to provide him with adequate protection or warn him of the dangers of asbestos.

We issued court proceedings for the retired union member’s widow and secured £180,000 compensation.

The family not only benefited from the legal expertise of specialist solicitors but also received 100% of their damages. Had they not used the union legal services solicitors, up to 25% of the value of the claim could have been deducted.

A retired union member was sadly diagnosed with Mesothelioma.

As an apprentice carpenter he has cut up asbestos sheeting to fireproof doors using a saw in the saw mill. We issued court proceedings and secured an interim payment.

He said “Thank you so much for the interim payment of £50,000. It is a great comfort to me to know we have judgement after just 5 months and that my case will settle in the next few months”.
